The counties Louth and Meath are still in mourning this week  with motoring accidents that have claimed the lives of seven people. Today it has emerged another  a man has died in a work related accident in Ashbourne, county Meath. It is understood the man, in his 60’s,  from Duleek, has died in a fatal incident and this was confirmed by Tayto Snacks Ltd earlier today in the morning.

The man was working for an independent company delivering potatoes to the factory when the accident occurred. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Our Lady’s Hospital Navan for a post-mortem examination. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene. The Health and Safety Authority said it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation. Managing Director John O’Connor said the company is quoted on Rte saying our  “thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues impacted by this tragic loss of life”.

Cllr Joe Bonner has expressed ”his sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased man. The community today has been thrown into deep shock, as the they comes to terms with this tragic news that emerged today. He is in our thoughts and prayers.”
