A man with a Kilmessan address who was caught drink-driving on a number of occasions. He had lost his partner in the last few months and was awaiting treatment at Cuan Mhuire centre was sentenced to a prison term at Trim District Court. Mark Johnson, Bective Walk, Kilmessan was detected driving under the influence on 26 th April 2025 and 24 th September 2024. On one occasion he returned a blood-alcohol reading of 63/100 and on another occasion 154/100.
On one occasion at Metges Road Garda John Nulty saw the defendant’s car veer over the solid white line. The court was told defendant had 10 previous convictions. He has a previous conviction for drunken driving and was fined €600 with a three-year disqualification in 2022. In 2024, he was convicted of driving without insurance and disqualified for two years and in the same year was caught drunken driving for which he was fined €100 and disqualified for six years.
Last year he was convicted of dangerous driving, jailed for four months and disqualified for six years. Defending solicitor Maurice Regan said his client was “seriously unwell”. Judge Eirinn McKiernan sentenced defendant to four months in prison and disqualified him from driving for six years.. She recommended that he get urgent medical attention in prison.
