It’s the second day of Bellewstown Racecourse’s July Festival and we have seven races to enjoy today; three maidens, a claimer and three handicaps. Read on for a preview of and tips for the Bellewstown card, brought to you by

We start off with a mile claiming first race off at 5.00pm . Alex Belardo won last time out and might be able to repeat the form in a race like this. Buttermere Ridge was better than previously last time out and might build on that, while Gloriously Glam might have a good chance on this better ground.

Next is a two-year-olds’ mile maiden for colts and geldings (17.35). There are plenty of newcomers to throw question marks here but Kraar and Full Volume bring the best existing form. The latter particularly might improve for the better ground and for having had a run due to signs of inexperience last time.

Race three is a mile handicap (18.07). Bay Of Dreams went well last time over this distance at Leopardstown, while Darkdeserthighway has an attractive Turf mark in comparison to her all-weather mark. Free Solo looks tempting having come two pounds down from last time, while Imnotleavinyou might appreciate the step up in trip.

The fourth race is a two-year-olds’ maiden over five furlongs (18.37). Little Diva is the only newcomer with a seven-pound claimer on board, while April Mist brings the best form having placed on debut at Naas. She’s a nicely bred filly who could have it all to play for up against some colts who have shown less so far.

A five-furlong maiden for horses aged three and over is next (19.10). John McConnell’s Kidd is the only debutant, wearing a tongue-strap for this which is discouraging. Focaccia has done quite well over this trip in the past, but Ennoble has done best of all in this class of race and should be the one to beat.

Second to last is a five-furlong handicap (19.44). Happy Henry remains competitive despite a rise in the handicap, while Sceitimini looks very appealing after a good run last time and an eye-catching booking in Colin Keane.

Racing concludes with a mile and a half handicap (20.17). Jazz Forever might pick up a place, while Masego looks to find this harder than last time when winning impressively at Leopardstown. Sir Trancealot also looks to have a good each-way chance after a third of 17 last time.
