The increase in housing completions in the second quarter of this year shows progress is being made on housing, a Fine Gael Senator has said. Senator Linda Nelson Murray said 482 new homes were built in County Meath in Q2 of this year, an increase from 381 homes in Q2 last year. “The signs of this accelerated progress to deliver homes is evident here in Meath”, said Senator Linda Nelson Murray.

“We all know supply is central to dealing with the key issues we face in housing, so the figures published today will come as a relief to families and individuals in Meath who will live in these homes. “Across the country, there were 9,214 new dwelling completions in April, May, and June (Q2) 2025, a rise of 35% on the same three months of 2024.

“More than half of the completions across the country were scheme dwellings, 33% were apartments, and 17% were single dwellings, showing the wide range of new homes being built. “Behind these figures are the people, individuals, couples and families, who now own their own homes in Meath. “We know there is more to do to ramp up housing delivery and we are determined to accelerate the pace of housing delivery in Meath.

“Today’s housing completion figures demonstrate what we can see happening around us in Meath, that more houses are coming on the market. Fine Gael wants to make sure people can own their own home right across Meath,” concluded Senator Nelson Murray.
