Packs of mixed leaves produced by a Meath company have been recalled because of the detection of listeria, it has been announced. The 100g packs produced by McCormack Family Farms with various batch codes are the items being recalled. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said the items had been on sale as Fresh Choice Market Mixed Leaves.
The FSAI said there is no evidence of any link with the listeria outbreak related to ready-to-heat meals currently under investigation. Retailers have been asked to remove the implicated batches from sale and display. The McCormack company said that there had been a recall of specific batches of spinach and some mixed leaf products. It added that as a food producer its technical team was vigilant in hygiene and
safety standards. The bacteria had been identified through its routine food safety testing which involved laboratory analysis of every crop. The company said that it operated to the highest food safety standards and this contamination was extremely rare.
