A 21 year-old man Daniel Smith from Clouhgerboy Park, Navan appeared before Trim District Court on two charges of robbery from the person in September. The offences are alleged to have occurred on two separate dates in September. One was at Applegreen, Navan on September 17 and involved a sum of €280, and the second two days later at a different location.
Court Presenter. Sergeant Declan Brady said the Director of Public Prosecutions sought that the case be prosecuted on indictment or by way of a signed plea for sentence in the Circuit Court. Daniel Cahalane, solicitor, indicated that the accused would be electing for a signed plea.
Judge Patricia Cronin remanded the accused on continuing bail to 13th January for the preparation of a book of evidence. She granted legal aid to the defendant who was stated to be on social welfare. The Judge also consented to vary a condition of his bail to allow him sign on at Trim Garda Station twice a week.
