The Mayor of Navan has said he is delighted that Elis, one of Europe’s largest commercial and textile rental businesses is looking for planning permission in the New Boyne Village Business Park at Farganstown, Navan. Cllr Padraig Fitzsimons said that planning permission was lodged at the end of February and he hoped it would get through the planning process “and bring much-needed jobs to Navan. The Elis company plans a €30m investment at the Meath facility and it is its intention to provide 200 jobs in the process. The development would involve the construction of a large two-storey industrial laundry processing and distribution facility warehouse.
Elis Ireland CEO Joanne D’arcy said the investment would be one of “upwards of €30m”. Mayor Fitzsimons aid the company had a turnover of almost €5billion. He said that Navan was in desperate need of larger employers providing local jobs with no commute. “The site is adjacent to residential housing at Farganstown and sits beside Athlumney and Johnstown/ “This development is exactly what we are trying to achieve in our county development plan, placing manufacturing and industrial entities in proximity to local housing, thereby reducing the dependency o workers travelling to Dublin for jobs. The more jobs we can create in our local region the better for workers and their families, the better for our community, the better for our rate base and the better for the environment.”
