Judge Eirinn McKiernan granted an adjournment to facilitate the preparation and service of the book of evidence in a case of a 60 year-old man who is accused of sexual assault. Trim District Criminal Court heard on Tuesday that the Director of Public Prosecutions sought that the accused be sent forward for trial or for sentence on a plea of guilty to the circuit court.
He was charged that morning, and Garda consented to bail on conditions that the accused sign on twice a week at a Garda Station. Judge McKiernan directed him to sign on on a Monday and Friday, reside at a specified address and not have contact with the injured party.
The offence is alleged to have taken place last year. Restrictions apply in the reporting of the case. The accused was remanded on bail to June 16 next.
