Four drivers who were caught for motoring offences have been fined and disqualified from driving when their cases came up at Trim District Court.

Garda Ashe told the court that he had seen Peter Darmody (33), Ledwidge Hall, Slane turn into an estate in Ratoath and discovered that his car had no insurance. His tax was out of date for 348 days. He had four previous convictions, one of them for driving without insurance and was convicted an fined for that offence in 2018. Judge Eirinn McKiernan imposed a €300 fine and disqualified him for
four years.

Dylan Maughan (23), Newcourt, Seatown, Swords was prosecuted by Garda Lenaghan for driving without insurance. His car was stopped on a road and he told the Garda his car had run out of fuel when returning from a wedding. He had 12 previous convictions including one conviction earlier this year for driving without insurance. He was also fined €300 and disqualified for four years.

Lee Tenanty (20), Reask Green, Navan was prosecuted by Sergeant O’Malley for driving without insurance. He had five previous convictions, including one for driving without insurance. He had been fined €200 for that offence in 2024. He was fined €300 and disqualified from driving for four years. Defendant did not appear in court and the judge issued an arrest warrant.

Colin Shipp (42), Rathstephen, Moynalty, Kells was fined €200 for careless driving.

Derek Hosie (53), Reask Crescent, Navan was fined €200 and disqualified for four years. The court was told that he had returned an alcohol/urine reading of 171/100. The court was told that a drink- driving conviction was among 11 previous convictions. He had previously been disqualified for two years. The judge acceded to a request from defending solicitor Maurice Regan to postpone the disqualification for six months.

Stephen Logue (36), Headfort Road, Kells was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for 18 months and disqualified from driving for four years for driving without insurance. The court heard he had two previous convictions for driving without insurance. The judge acceded a request from solicitor Maurice Regan to postpone the disqualification for three months.
