Meath County Council was delighted to mark the official opening of the newly developed Longwood Playground on the morning of Thursday, 18 June 2026, delivering a significant new amenity for children, families and the wider Longwood community. The project, which involved an investment of €280,000, was officially opened by the Cathaoirleach of the Trim Municipal District (MD), Cllr Ronan Moore.

Located on the Longwood Fair Green, the new playground spans approximately 400 square metres and features 19 pieces of play and interactive equipment, creating a modern, inclusive and engaging space for children and families in Longwood and the surrounding area.

The development also included upgraded footpaths, the installation of a new pedestrian crossing with raised traffic calming measures, and improvements to the layout and surfacing of the adjacent car park, enhancing accessibility and safety for all users.

The project was supported by €150,000 in funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, with the remaining balance provided by Meath County Council.
