Gardaí in Ashbourne are investigating a robbery which occurred at Paddy Power Bookmakers, Ratoath, on Saturday.

Meath Crime Prevention posted on Facebook, “At 1.40pm approximately, a lone male entered the premises carrying an iron bar. He approached the counter and demanded money.   

‘The culprit was described as around 6 foot tall, of skinny build and with a Dublin accent. He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit top with grey sleeves. He got a small amount of cash and left the scene on foot and went into the nearby graveyard.

Some replies made light of the situation by making comments such as “What’s the odds of catching him?” and “I bet 12/1 he buried it”

 Gardai said “Any witnesses or anybody who may have information that could assist Gardaí should contact the Detective Unit at Ashbourne Garda Station on 01-8010600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111.”
