In the early hours of this morning ( Wednesday,31st Dec.)a fire broke out at Scut Fagans in Moynalvey. Extensive damage has been caused to the well known establishment, a landmark in the south Meath. It is well known for its distinctive old Irish charm and character over the years. Meath Fire Services arrived at the scene to tackle the fire but there was substantial damage caused. There are no reports of any injuries or casualties.

Enfield based Cllr Padraig Coffey commented ‘It was a sad day for the area and the owners. In a time when rural pubs are in decline it was popular and providing employment. ” He himself in his own business had the unfortunate event of a fire and it took a lot of time to recover from the incident at the time.
